Split shipping company Jadroplov d.d. has signed a contract with Swiss company Irus Holding to buy an LPG liquefied gas transport ship for just over $25 million.

The basis of the decision of the company's Supervisory Board signed a contract for the purchase of the LPG ship, which is under construction at Japan's Sasaki Shipbuilding shipyard and is due to be completed by October this year.

At the same time, the company agreed to a three-year lease of the ship with an optional extension for another two years, with the possibility of increasing the daily rental due to the adjustment of the simple price, the statement concluded.

Jadroplov, which is majority state-owned, will thus add another ship to its fleet of five ships, mainly for the transport of bulk cargo, with a total capacity of 242,727 tonnages of empty payload (DWT). 

This is not only a step forward for us, but also for Croatian maritime affairs. The ship will be registered under the Croatian flag and will provide the possibility of training seafarers and training the Croatian Register of Ships for issuing class for this type of ships, the company said.
